ABOUT ME

Takahiro Miyashita is served as a director of Interaction Science Laboratories (ISL) and Interaction Technology Bank (ITB), Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR). I also am a senior research scientist at ISL and ITB.

He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree in engineering for computer-controlled machinery from Osaka University, Japan in 1993, 1995, and 2002, respectively. From 1998 to 2000, he was research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). From April to September 2000, he was researcher of Symbiotic Intelligent Group at ERATO Kitano Symbiotic Systems Project of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). From October 2000 to June 2002, he was assistant professor at Wakayama University. From July 2002, he was a researcher of Intelligent Robotics and Communication Laboratories (IRC), ATR. He was served as a group leader of IRC since 2007 and a director of IRC since 2019. He reorganized IRC and changed the name of the lab to ISL and ITB.

His research interests are ambient intelligence, sensor network, tactile sensing, multi DOFs control for humanoid robots, navigation, tele-robotics, human computer interaction, human robot interaction, human robot symbiosis and cloud networked robotics.

He is a member of the Robotics Society of Japan, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Networked Robotics

Networked robotics, NR, is technology for cooperating with robots, sensor networks, ambient intelligence and smartphones and realizing robotic or cyber-physical services that can not be done by a single robot.

1995 Apr. - 2000 Mar.

Graduate School of Engineering,
Osaka University, Osaka, JAPAN

Doctor of Engineering in Computer-Controlled Machinery

Ambient Intelligence

Ambient intelligence, AmI, is not intelligence belonging to individuals such as people and living things but intelligence embedded in the environment. We can visualize it by observing the environment.

Human Position / Behavior Measurement

To visualize AmI, we are developing sensor networks for detecting human position and behaviour in large environment.

Tech-Business Acceleration

We are trying to collaborate and accelerate venture companies to install our technology into society.
